From the shores of the magnificent Lake Garda to the edge of the Alps the Veneto is dotted with Palladian villas and idyllic hillsides rising from Italy's northern plain. The warming influence of the lake creates a Mediterranean enclave rich in olive groves and citrus fruits as well as extraordinary wines such as Amarone di Valpolicella. Visits may include the beautiful gardens at Sigurta, the crisp white wines of Custoza, and lunch in a wine estate's orangery. We walk through Palladio's great city of Vicenza, Colli Berici, the Brenta valley and the Euganei hills of Petrarch. Finally, we may see the astonishing Giotto frescoes at Padua, and explore the art-filled medieval city of Verona (and the Opera in season).
