Example Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Cape Town. Collect hire car and drive to our first hotel,
the Vineyard. Free afternoon. Possible late afternoon cable car trip
to top of Table Mountain, to enjoy the spectacular view. Gourmet dinner
and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 Full day guided tour with lunch, of the Cape Peninsula. Includes
Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope nature reserve, Hout Bay, Simonstown and
penguin colony. We may also include Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens. Overnight
at the Vineyard.
Day 3 A full day to explore on your own around Cape Town. Suggestions
include the historic centre, the Waterfront, vineyards around Constantia,
or a walk on Table Mountain. Overnight at Vineyard.
Day 4 Transfer by road to the Winelands of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek.
Check into Basse Provence guest house, le Quartier Francais, Franschhoek
Country House or similar for three nights. Gourmet dinner at a local
restaurant; overnight at guest house.
Day 5 Another full day guided tour, around the vineyard regions. Lunch
is included, perhaps at the excellent Quartier Francais restaurant,
and there are a large number of estates that we may choose from to visit.
Overnight at guest house.
Days 6/7 Free time to explore this fascinating region on your own -
our guide may have given you ideas the previous day. On day 7 transfer
by road to the charming guest house Greyton Lodge, conveniently situated
to allow time to explore Hermanus Bay and the excellent vineyards of
Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson - the most southerly in the
Cape. The lodge is also close to the airport if you have an early flight
the following day. Overnight at guest house.
Day 8 Drop off hire car as arranged. End of tour.
