| After an informal
introduction to the wines of Chile and a welcome dinner at the top of
San Cristóbal hill (with breathtaking views of Santiago), we set out to
visit most of the important wine regions of Chile. From Aconcagua we visit
the Errazuriz winery, at the foot of the highest mountain in the Americas.
In the Casablanca valley we have a cellar visit, dinner and overnight
perhaps at Viña Santa Rita, or at Viña Veramonte. From Chillan we have
a chance to explore the foothills of the Andes on horseback or on foot,
and there is time to enjoy the beach at Viña del Mar and Valparaiso. Cultural
visits generally include the Pablo Neruda museum, pottery works at Pomaire
and the Museum of Colchagua. Other wine estates visited may include Miguel
Torres, Santa Carolina, Felipe Edwards, Lapostolle, Los Vascos (owned
by Château Lafite) and Viña Cousiño Macul in Rapel. Finally, we enjoy
a farewell dinner in Santiago. |
