Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Champagne. Private visit and tasting at a small estate west of Reims. Dinner at country restaurant in Fismes; overnight in chambre d'hôte on a country champagne estate.

Day 2 A full free day to explore the champagne region around Reims. Tastings may be arranged if required, and there are some excellent walks across the vineyards and surrounding countryside. Free evening for dinner (optional gourmet dinner at 'Les Crayères' in Reims). Overnight at chambre d'hôte.

Day 3 Morning tasting at a local cellar, such as the lovely cellars of champagne Charlier, a small country estate above the Marne river, and one time winner of the Bouchon d'Or - the Golden Cork for tourism services. Alternatively, afternoon visit of a major house, such as Pol Roger, Moët or Alfred Gratien. Gourmet dinner and overnight at our exclusive country moated chateau outside Epernay.

Day 4 Morning wine visit to a cellar outside Epernay, such as Bollinger or Duval-Leroy. Free afternoon to explore the region on your own. Gourmet dinner and overnight in Epernay.

Day 5 Depart after breakfast.
 
 
This unguided holiday is a perfect short wine break in Champagne, and an excellent introduction to the region. It allows time to combine much of the superb scenery and ambience of Champagne with the important town of Epernay and the surrounding vineyards in the Montagne des Reims etc.
