Beneath the pine and oak forests of the Vosges Mts and stretching down to the Rhine lies an exceptional vine growing region dotted with chocolate-box wine villages that compete with floral and colour displays to rival any in the world! As always, our hotels are chosen for their warm welcome and atmosphere and generous menus and wine lists. We walk through the vineyards of Niedermorschwihr, Turckheim, Katzenthal and Ammerschwihr, and from Kientzheim to Kaysersberg. Finally, we climb through oak forests to Lapoutroie in the heart of a lush green valley, famous for Munster cheese, and a wonderful gourmet dinner at the Hotel du Faudé. Spectacular dishes to expect include Baekoeffe (a rich stew of beef, pork and mutton) and trout from the mountain streams, perfect foils for the excellent and varied wines of Alsace.
